How we work
Getting it right
Let’s say you have a project in the Borough of Melchester (home of Roy of the Rovers). You know little about it but anecdotally you’re told it’s difficult, especially the politics. So you have a quick scout on the Web and see the council is hung and your site is in the Nimbyville ward. So you’ll need to talk to the politicians and do some public consultation. But who and what?
That’s where we come in.
Give us a call on 0207 580 2200 or 07599 423 888. We’ll ask you to send over a redline map of the site and existing planning documents: no more.
What happens next
The quote
We will ask the consultancies to submit a quote setting out their detailed approach and the cost of each element.
Are they open to a success fee and what would that be?
Will they cap their fees for the work?
Are there any retainers? (hate those).
Tom knows all the tricks of the trade and can ask the incisive searching questions.
The interview
We will ask:
Why are they best for the job?
Who do they know /not know of?
Who will lead the project and stay with it all the way?
Who is their deputy?
Who will do the ‘grunt’ work (back office)?
Tom will lead the process and ask the tough questions.
The shortlist
We’ll recommend the consultancies best placed to help you based on their real local knowledge. To emphasise, it’s not who they know of, it’s who they KNOW.
There may be an obvious choice, but we will recommend one, two or three others for cost comparison and outline strategy.
Together we’ll draw up a short brief and ask them for their approach and its cost.
We can quiz them in person, or on Teams/Zoom.
“Of course armed with the above, you can do this yourself - but I know the players, the tricks of the trade and how to dig deep.
I’m the poacher turned gamekeeper.”
